Luke Ellis has been involved with Hylands for many years, joining back in 2002 at the age of 10. He was one of the first Tennis Leaders and went on to get his LTA Level 2 Coaching qualification. Luke helped with the delivery of a number of sessions at the club and led the men’s team from 2014 to 2015.

Hylands to Luke has always been more than a place that aims to help people to become good tennis players. To him it is also a place for the development of good people. Utilising the experience gained whilst at Hylands, Luke secured himself the role of University Tennis Coordinator, whereby he was responsible for establishing and delivering the tennis programme at Brunel University for over 100 members and received numerous accolades whilst in post.

Luke is an alumni of the University of Central Lancashire where he achieved a Bachelor of Arts First Class Honours degree in Sports Coaching Practice, and is currently studying towards a Master of Arts in Education at Brunel University. At present he is in the application stages for an Officer role in the Royal Navy, as well as positions within humanitarian aid organisations.

Luke’s home is now in Cornwall where his family moved to recently. Whenever he is in Hornchurch he visits Hylands and he remains a member of the Volunteers Involvement Programme team contributing blogs and mentoring young team members.
